Summer Surfing in Crete
Early morning surf lessons in Crete. We are heading once again to the beautiful beach of Falassarna to surf the incoming western swell. Day three for Inge and her family. Andy started with a warm up to prepare for the upcoming surf activity. On their third day they learned something new: paddling out and paddling into the wave with the goal of catching green waves. Andy also showed them on the beach the motion of the turn, and we got some really nice pictures of Tom in our photo album execution the front side turn. Then surf instructor Andy went through the safety signals with the whole group and the most important safety precautions, such as protecting your head, when you nosedive. Then Inge and her family went in the water to practice. Now it was time for Patrick and Daniel to start with the first day theory and exercises. The goal for the first time surfers is to find the right position on the surfboard. Excited to go in the water, we did not lose another minute and started to put theory into practice. The boys flew through the first set of exercises and then Andy showed them how to pop up on the board and it immediatly clicked. The whole group was riding one wave after another and had a lot of fun riding Cretan waves. Click here for the album of 28 July 2019 morning
