Early in the morning the beach is ours! Andy woke our surfers up with some gentle yoga inspired exercises for today's surf lesson. It was just the right thing from the aching shoulders and backs from yesterday's surf course. After that we jumped back into the water to practice what we learned. Afterwards Andy introduced our surfers the formation of swell during his theory class!
Beautiful summer set up for today's beginner course. Warm waters, the sun shining through the turquoise waves and good company. When you surf together you become instantly friends through the shared experience. At Kalo Surf surfschool in Crete our mission is to provide you with a save and fun lesson, so you become a surfer not only through your physical skills but also in your hearts.
Today we went early in the morning for a surf session to the beach! The nature was wild today, non the less it makes for perfect surfing! The rough weather brought big waves and our beginners had perfect conditions. Let's see what Andy will do in his time off in the afternoon?!?
Yesterday's conditions seemed rough with clouds in the sky and strong winds. But it provided us with good waves and an unforgettable surf day in Crete. As Andy calls these days: Sparta!!! Our surfers came out all stronger from this experience.
Yesterday was family fun time at Kalo Surf. Our guests this time came from far far away - from New Zealand - and enjoyed their first surf experience with us. We were honestly impressed by their stamina and the father sons trio enjoyed the warm waters and empty surf of Crete!
Today we went to Andy's point in Crete with dear guest / friend Vanessa and Ian. The conditions were perfect for our project, a small movie representing the coast and surf in Crete. We look forward to see the end result shot by filmmaker photographer Noah!
Today we had an international group. They flocked from all over Crete to find us in Kissamos and share an exceptional afternoon session with Kalo Surf surf school. Special thanks to Joann and Eugen who drove over 3 hours to surf with us. The waves were perfect for beginners and intermediates likewise. The beginners surfed the white water foam closer to the shore and the intermediates paddled out to try their luck in a green wave. Happy faces all over as the sun set on our bay.
Yesterday morning we got up early and saw a different side of Crete. Dark clouds in the sky, a lot of wind and cooler temperatures. But this is what makes Crete interesting as a surf spot for our surf school. We need the wind and rough weather to create waves! So, the brave surfers jumped into the rough sea and caught some waves. In the afternoon Andy and Ben were even braver and went into really big waves. We were so excited though that we forgot about taking pictures of that session. Surf life!
Now that surfing is olympic, we wonder if there will be also a synchronized event? Just in case Lena and Julia are training already for 2020!
A big swell hit the island of Crete. In the morning it was family time for our beloved returning family guests and in the afternoon the team went for a fun session. Photographer Noah was stoked to see such a beautiful empty surf spot in Greece!
The waves were beautiful today as they are getting bigger and bigger with the swell that hits the island. Crete is the perfect surfing spot as it gets swells from different directions. At Kalo Surf we find a good sized wave according to the level of our surfers!
